There has been progress with Travis's feeds! He has been taking a bottle at least every other feed the past two days. This is huge for him because he really wasn't feeding much last week but since Saturday night it started to improve. The initial plan was to just continue with breastfeeding because he was gagging/choking with bottle feeds. His nurse Saturday night said that he was really cueing for a feed and so she offered the bottle. He drank it in 15 minutes! Since then, we have continued with the bottle and it has been going progressively better. He still really takes his time to start drinking and we still need to be cautious of him gagging and choking but hopefully that will improve with practice.
We do not know yet when we will be able to go home. It seems like we are coming really close. We are hoping that he will be able to handle feeding every three hours soon. He weighed in tonight at 4006 grams (8 pounds 13 ounces). We also had a little party with cake today because it has been 100 days...hard to believe how fast time flies!
Travis is the oldest baby now in the NICU so there is pressure to go home :)
