As you can see from these photos, WE ARE HOME!
On Day 100, Travis started taking the bottle every feeding and since then he has been fed by the bottle. The morning of Day 101 he decided to pull out his own feeding tube- so that was a great sign- he was telling us something! The plan at that point was that we would go home either Monday or Tuesday of next week, depending on how everything was going. Later in the day it sounded like it may be either Saturday or Sunday. On Friday, Day 102 when we came into the NICU the nurse told us that we could go home that day. They wish that they could have taken a photo of our shocked faces then. Once the news sunk in, we prepared to go home.
It has all been going well at home. He is a very content baby and likes to sleep a lot. It was also Natalie's first time meeting him. It was very cute. She knew that he was a baby and she went up to him and patted him on the head and kept of saying "aww". During the day she keeps on saying "baby" whenever she sees him. She is definitely curious about it all!
In the coming weeks we will be going to the Development Clinc at the hospital. This is a group of staff who are also involved in the NICU, who will be following his progress. This will include nutrition and physiotherapy. We also have a pediatrician who will be looking after Travis in London.
We are very thankful for all the staff in the NICU who have been with us along the way. It has been a journey with Travis, with both ups and downs, and they were there to support us through both. We will be back there to visit the nurses when we go to the Development Clinic.
