In the past couple of days there hasn’t been much change in little Travis. They did a chest x-ray and they saw that it was a bit “hazy”. As a result of that, they gave him some medication to clear up some fluid build up in his lungs which helped him breathe a little easier. Travis is still regularly having spells where he stops breathing, just to keep his nurse busy! Since they could still hear the heart murmur with the stethoscope, they had an ultrasound done of his heart to see the size the hole. They call it "moderate", and it hadn't changed since the last time they had an ultrasound done. From the sounds of it, they would like to wait off with the surgery since they are hoping that it will close on its own. In case they do need to do the surgery, they would like him to grow a little more. They have increased his feeds to 15mls every two hours, and he now weighs just below 3 pounds (1330 grams). Since they administered the medication for his lungs, his weight has gone down as a result of the fluid being removed from his lungs. Santa and his elf came and visited the NICU ward November 19th, Travis got a couple photos taken with Santa. Overall Travis is doing well, and it’s hard to believe that he’s a month old already!
