Travis has been doing very well in the past week! His breathing has regulated and the odd time when he does stop breathing, he picks himself up again. He had a bit of acid reflux which caused him to stop three times, but we haven't had that in the past day. They cannot hear his heart murmur anymore, and all the clinical signs show that the valve is closed again! On Sunday they gave Travis some more blood because his levels were lower.
Travis is also out of his incubator and in a "big boy crib". He is still very tiny in it, and hopefully will grow into it quickly! He is doing very well on the CPAP, and they are going to gradually wean him on the oxygen level and the rate of breaths it gives. The last time they weighed him he was 3 lbs 10 oz (1810 grams). They gave him some medication for the fluid he was retaining so in the last two days his weight stayed the same.
We've been kangarooing him every day for around an hour and the nurses still laugh about how particular he is. Sunday night he wasn't settled and had a hard time sleeping, and the nurse figured out what he wanted yesterday- a pillow! He is much more comfortable now and he doing better.
It is amazing to think the is already six weeks old and how much progress there has been. We are grateful for every little step towards coming home...
