We were in for a surprise when Adrian and I got the hospital yesterday! When we got to his room they had moved mostly everything out of it, and his roomate was moved. We found out pretty quickly that they had put him into isolation because they were thinking he may have a virus. They did this as a precaution because of his signs and symptoms. He had a fever, had many more spells of not breathing overnight, and his blood results weren't the usual. They were doing a number of tests to determine why this occured. There wasn't much they could do because you cannot treat viruses with antibiotics. Travis was still very active, moving around, opening his eyes and he didn't look sick.
Over the day he settled more, his breathing was more steady and his fever lowered. Overnight he did well, and this morning I went to the hospital to see him and I was just on time for rounds. This is where the doctors, respiratory therapist, nurse and other staff meet to talk about the plan for the day and review his health. He still had a bit of a fever, and Tylonel helped with that.
They also mentioned that they did not hear a murmur anymore so that was awesome news! Hopefully this means that the heart duct has closed on its own. As routine, they also did a second head ultrasound and everything looked good.
We received the test results of the sputum from his vent tube and it came back negative meaning that he doesn't have a respirtatory virus which they thought it would be. Now they are testing to pinpoint what it actually is by doing a spinal tap, urine test and blood tests. Please pray that they find out what he has and that he recovers quickly from it!
